8 Indisputable Proofs That the Government Cannot Isolate You
We live in strange times, don’t we? Until very recently, for the most part, the only people that were required to be in isolation were prisoners who misbehaved while serving a sentence. We’ve known this as Solitary Confinement.
In New Zealand, where my family and I live, when someone is tested positive for Covid-19, or enters the country from abroad, they are required to be placed in an isolation facility for two weeks.
I have a friend who just returned to New Zealand, and who is currently confined to such a place. I was eager to get a first hand account of what life is like in these facilities. Her response was simply, “It’s very much isolation.” She explained that each resident is allowed no contact with anyone at all.
Even though she is an introvert, I sensed that after a short four days, she was already feeling pretty lonely. Which is the complete natural response for a human to experience in such a situation. And with a heart to encourage her, I realized a very simple truth…
The government may be able to separate someone from their loved ones.
The authorities may be able to isolate someone from society.
The rulers may be able to disconnect someone from the outside world.
But they can never separate, isolate, or disconnect someone from God!
No space is too small, no location too distant, and no security too strong to keep the King of all the universe away from you. No matter where you are located, or how alone you feel.
The Bible is filled with so many scriptures to ensure you ‘get’ this. Here are just 8 indisputable proofs that the government cannot isolate you from God:
He Is Everywhere
Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence?
Psalm 139:7
It is impossible for you to be, go, travel, settle, or flee from God’s presence. He is always right there with you, because He is everywhere! Whether you are in Heaven, or dwelling in the uttermost parts of the earth, He is in that very place accompanying you.
He Is Wherever You Go
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Joshua 1:9
God is with you wherever you go, because He is already at your destination. Isn’t it a comfort to know that when you are planning a trip, move, or relocation, God is already there. There is nothing to fear, because He will always be one step ahead of you, waiting for you at that station.
He Is Wherever You Are
“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Isaiah 41:10
And not only will God be with you wherever you go, He’s already with you wherever you are. And what a wonderful promise He gives you that right where you are, He will strengthen, help, and uphold you. His arm is not too short to save and not too weak to support you.
He Is Constantly Present
“Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”
Deuteronomy 31:6
Yes! God is with you now, and God will be with you wherever you go, but He’s not going to just check in, make sure you’re settled and leave. He is going to stay by your side, unconditionally, constantly, and faithfully. This is your God! You have nothing to dread. Nothing can cause Him to walk away, or desert you!
He Is In Your Midst
“The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.”
Zephaniah 3:17
The dictionary defines midst as the middle point, part, or stage. Do you realise that the Lord takes centre stage wherever you are? He’s not taking a back seat. He is in your midst. In the middle of your situation, at the heart of your circumstances, and at the very core of your being. No solitary room, no remote facility, or separated home will change the fact that He is in midst of where you are!
When you’re sheltering in place, He is your shelter in that place!
He Is With You Always
“Teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Matthew 28:20
What a wonderful promise your Saviour gave you, my friend. He remains with you perpetually—regardless of your circumstance, location, or status, He is with you at every occasion and during every experience. For how long? “Even to the end of the age.” That is far beyond any measure of time. That is all the way in the future beyond the concept of time.
Notice that Jesus didn’t say, “I will be with you,” He specifically said, “I AM with you!” Because He is.
And He will always be with you in the here and now.
His Presence Is Inseperable
“For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Romans 8:38-39
Nothing can separate you not only from God, but also from His love! No rulers, no authority – both spiritual or earthly, no president or prime minister, no military personnel or policeman, no doctor or medical official, neither the WHO nor the CDC, nothing and no one can ever separate you from the unlimited, boundless, and eternal love of God for you!
His Name Says It All
Last but by no means least in any way, is one of the names that God gave to our risen Saviour.
Immanuel.
This name literally means “God is with us” in Hebrew. If all else fails, if you forget the Scriptures or lose sight of His promises, you need look no further than His holy Name, Immanuel. A name to call upon in times of need, a stark reminder that He is with you, dear one. When powers and principalities attempt to isolate you from so much, Immanuel will be with you then, as He is right now.
